Self referrals for domestic abuse support

Safe in Salford Community Service Team offer support to all Salford residents (age 18+) around current and historic domestic abuse.

Victims of current abuse can be supported to help re-build their lives, emotionally, financially, practically when leaving the relationship or offered support on how to manage if still living with the perpetrator or preparing to leave.

Victims of historic domestic abuse can be supported emotionally and offered signposting to services to help them deal with triggers and the long-term effects of being in an abusive relationship and the impact it can still have on their lives. The support given is client led and can be for as long as is needed.

If you are not working with any other services who can refer you to Safe in Salford then please contact us for a self referral.

How do I make a self referral?

You can contact us via our helpline, email or use the contact form below and ask us to call you. We can arrange a face to face assessment if you prefer. You just need to let us know the best day and time to contact you. Its also helpful if you can let us know if it is safe to leave a voicemail if you can’t answer.

What happens during the referral?

We will ask you for your personal details, contact number, address etc and the name of your ex partner (name of partner/ex is not mandatory) and details of any children.

We will then complete a DASH with you (this determines your risk and what support you need). If you disclose any information where we believe you or someone else is at risk or there is criminal activity we have a duty to pass that information on the relevant safeguarding authority.

At the end of the conversation we will advise if your case is high risk, if so you will be referred to our Safe in Salford high risk team. If you are not high risk you will contacted by one of our keyworkers.
